چکیده

In the paper, we propose a model that tracks the dynamics of malaria in the human host and mosquito vector. Our model incorporates some infected humans that recover from infection and immune humans after loss of immunity to the disease to join the susceptible class again. All the new borne are susceptible to the infection and there is no vertical transmission. The stability of the system is analyzed for the existence of the disease-free and endemic equilibria points. We established that the disease-free equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable when the reproduction number, R0 6 1 and the disease always dies out. For R0 > 1 the disease-free equilibrium becomes unstable and the endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. Thus, due to new births and immunity loss to malaria, the susceptible class will always be refilled and the disease becomes more endemic. 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Malaria transmission model for different levels of acquired immunity and temperature-dependent parameters (vector).

OBJECTIVE Describe the overall transmission of malaria through a compartmental model, considering the human host and mosquito vector. METHODS A mathematical model was developed based on the following parameters: human host immunity, assuming the existence of acquired immunity and immunological memory, which boosts the protective response upon reinfection; mosquito vector, taking into account ...

Determination of Age and Vectorial Capacity of Anopheles Maculipennis Sensu Lato in the Central Plateau of Iran

Background and Purpose: Islamic Republic of Iran has greatly reduced its malaria burden and has a national goal to eliminate malaria by 2025. The aim of this study was to determine the population dynamics of Anopheles maculipennis sensu lato, in relation to probable malaria transmission. For this purpose, the study was conducted in three villages in Isfahan Province of Iran, from April to March...

On oscillatory pattern of malaria dynamics in a population with temporary immunity

We use a model to study the dynamics of malaria in the human and mosquito population to explain the stability patterns of malaria. The model results show that the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable and occurs whenever the basic reproduction number, R0 is less than unity. We also note that when R0 . 1, the disease-free equilibrium is unstable and the endemic equilibrium i...

Effects of Natural Acquired Immunity in an Age-Structured Malaria Model

Malaria, a vector borne disease, is one of the most important major global public health challenges. In this paper we develop a deterministic mathematical model for malaria, which considers the effects on malaria prevalence of the chronological age of human hosts and the role of natural acquired immunity (NAI) of people continuously exposed to the parasite. We identify the basic reproduction nu...
